After last night’s rain showers we packed up wet tents just above Shadow Creek and we’re on the trail at 7am. After a mile or so lumbering along the creek we came to Shadow Lake, the first of what would be many beautiful lakes today. Then a thousand foot climb to get out of that basin as we walked by Rosalie Lake, Gladis Lake, Trinity (Trinidad?) Lake and more that I haven’t named. We have seen at least 50 other people, maybe 100, every day on trail so far. After that initial climb it was basically all downhill to Devils Postpile and then Red’s Meadow. We booked it down that hill to get there in time for lunch at their restaurant. Massive delicious burgers, and other things too – but I got a cheeseburger. We got a shower while there, charged up some devices (sorta) and some folks even did some laundry. After that we walked to the nearby campground and got a site to share for $25. I did some laundry at the campsite and had a snack, then planned tomorrow’s hike to Duck Pass.
